Discussion: Is ROWE the future of work?
What if you could work from home, never track your hours, and only be evaluated based on what you produce? That's the idea behind a Results Only Work Environment (ROWE) which takes Daniel Pink's focus on autonomy to the max.
Extra Extra! Related Resources post is a Huffington Post article that explains the idea in more detail and includes some interesting updates from Drive’s discussion of the concept (including that Best Buy, the pioneer of ROWE, did away with the program.)
The idea of ROWE is particularly interesting right now given that many of us are working from home due to COVID-19, and many companies are re-evaluating how we work.

This is also good for more mature workers who have more control over their "distractions." I can see more immature workers, i.e. adolescents, missing deadline after deadline if they are not in a more structured environment... But that's just me and my bias of being a slacker through college. :-)
