Alliance of Local Oregon Epidemiologist + Neighbors (ALOE+)

Mission Statement: Our mission is to connect and empower local health department epidemiologists and analysts across all disciplines in Oregon and our partners in neighboring states and tribes, utilizing collaboration to give a unified voice to local needs and enhance the exchange of information, ideas, and expertise.

Notes from 3/15/2022 kick off meeting

  1. Welcome
    1. This group was created for peer support at the local level. 
      1. What is the best way to structure these meeting moving forward? 
      2. How can these meeting be useful? 
        • Discussion around cross cutting topics that we can learn from each other. Things we can bring to the State like sharing areas for improvement.  Ways to advocate, communicate, and align locally.  
        • Standardizing naming conventions across data sets. 
        • How do we create space that includes sub-groups? What is the larger group going to bring? 
      3. Original idea was creating something that could be branched off CLHO meetings. The cd/epi meetings were IG focused and did not focus on the data. These meetings should really be unpacking methodologic tools that have some cross over. It was mentioned if this group were to join the CLHO structure, there would be less flexibility. Benefit of this group is this is the data people all together. Could this group fit into a caucus or something? Not having it be content specific but have it data focused. 
      4. There is some funding sources for workforce development, specifically around decolonizing data. Would that be of interested?
      5. Do we need a Charter and/or goals for this alliance? Please email taylor.pinsent@multco.us or RPosnick@co.marion.or.us if interested
      6. There is a lot of interest in sharing interesting projects and collaborations, being able to chat through methodology and data practices. Maybe we start the meeting just connecting or asking questions? Networking is of interest.
    2. BaseCamp review, please let us know if you have any questions and how you like this platform.
    3. Does anyone want to host the next meeting? Should we make these a recurring meeting? Multnomah and Marion will co-host the next meeting and find a recurring time for everyone.

Haven't attended before but I like the idea of sharing interesting projects or cross-county collaborations each meeting.

The Wednesday meetings were not CLHO meetings. Laura and Morgan were just gracious enough to help facilitate updates from OHA.

I'll just also second the idea of sharing interesting projects and collaborations -- I see a lot of potential value in that, and being able to chat through methodology and data practices.
