Alliance of Local Oregon Epidemiologist + Neighbors (ALOE+)

📈 Data Dictionary

Data dictionary information can be used to document data structure details, communicate common vocabulary and definitions, and help users collect data and create reports. Ultimately, creating a data dictionary will ensure that the meaning, relevance, and quality of the data are the same for all.

Across counties, data is being collected, interpreted, and entered by many without an epidemiological background. I'm hopeful that this tool can also be used to guide data entry for case investigators, the very data we need for our reports! 

Since we are wrangling our own resources to create this helpful tool, we have the decision making power to make this exactly what we need during this pandemic that still has months to go. 

To start us off: 
What are our priorities?
What additional information would you like to see in our data dictionary?
Are there resources that we could use in its development that you know of? 
Do you have a draft already in development at your county?

Work group members include; Sarah Kalivoda, Jenny Faith, Katharine Carvelli, Marie Boman-Davis, and Taylor Pinsent. The more the merrier if you would like in on this project!

Hi, we developed a regional dictionary to help with the structure and tables. We have yet to build out the risk questions data but could you add me in. I would love to show you what our programmer built. thanks!

I'm glad they recorded it! And that Tom offered to make OHA's outdated data dictionary for Orpheus available. I feel like we need to poke and prod them to make it available ASAP. Maybe Lex can help get that going. 

Could you share the spreadsheet? You should be able to drop it in the Docs & File section of Basecamp.

I just sent out an email invite for the next ALOE meeting 1/26 2-3:30pm. Broadly, it is to discuss issues with data access, delays in the Opera system and opportunities to ask more questions about methodology, table structure and calculated fields from OHA. Michelle Barber and others on the informatics team at OHA will be in attendance.

As we are working to finalize the agenda, please send items you would like to discuss.
