Discussion questions:
  1. How does current messaging of AR support data for action (e.g., antimicrobial stewardship programs, cluster/outbreak response)?  Recommendations for changes you would want to see for more timely response to action?
  2. What are your current reporting regulations around AR reporting? How this reporting is managed (e.g., updated)?  Recommendations for any changes you would to see around reporting regulations?
  3. To what extent are HL7 standards, LONIC and SNOMED codes used in current messaging across AR testing and surveillance systems (e.g., LIS/ELR, ARLN)?  Do you have any best practices on how to display your mapping of these messages? 
  4. If using HL7 what version(s) are you currently using? Do you need assistance in communicating with laboratories regarding messaging for HL7 2.5.1?
  5. What is planned for messaging support of the reporting of both quantitative (numeric values) as well as qualitative (interpretation) results?  Recommendations for future changes around reporting qualitative and qualitative results?
  6. Recommendations for epidemiologists on how to access suppressed AR data from labs? Is it possible and are there any existing examples of clinical labs working with their AST or LIS vendors to allow access to suppressed data for specific reports/output?
  7. What are the model programs for lab/epi/clinical integration in AR or other surveillance?  What characteristics make them successful?  What are they still missing?  Recommendations for data elements that would assist with integration efforts to create an ideal program?
  8. How are lab accession numbers for lab to epi links across the different levels of testing and merging.  What accession numbers are being captured at CDC?
  9. Is your Laboratory Information System able to receive HL7 ELR?  If no, is it possible with support to upgrade to a point where it can receive HL7 ELR?
  10. What do you do currently with AR results that you receive from ARLN?
  11. What is your laboratory’s current role in AR surveillance?  What plans to you have for future?
