AZ BioSense Community of Practice

The mission of the Arizona BioSense Workgroup is to work collaboratively as partners to build capacity and quality of BioSense syndromic surveillance in Arizona. Our vision is to improve population health and emergency response through the use of timely and effective syndromic surveillance. This space is a platform for our members to continue discussions and share cross-role topics and questions from providing the data to using syndromic data (clinician/IT/public health).

Feedback from the call:
  • Continue with current practice of giving access to aggregate rules through the BioSense Liaisons.  BioSense Liaisons can communicate to the ADHS Syndromic Surveillance Program which users should be added to this rule in the future.
  • ADHS Syndromic Surveillance Program will update the group if and when we transition to the new CLI v2 CCDD Category.  Any changes to the CLI trends used by ADHS on public facing dashboards will be shared as soon as updates are available.
  • Move forward with developing AZ dashboards with indicators for Behavioral Health, Injury and Prevention.  Use the WA DOH myESSENCE dashboards as stepping stone.
  • Add time series graphs for indicators with the CLI overlay.  Example, self-harm and CLI.
  • Add stratification by Discharge Disposition.  Example, self-harm and discharged to rehab facility.
  • Looking for users to pilot the opioid overdose and suicide email alerts.
