AZ BioSense Community of Practice

The mission of the Arizona BioSense Workgroup is to work collaboratively as partners to build capacity and quality of BioSense syndromic surveillance in Arizona. Our vision is to improve population health and emergency response through the use of timely and effective syndromic surveillance. This space is a platform for our members to continue discussions and share cross-role topics and questions from providing the data to using syndromic data (clinician/IT/public health).

AMC Updates:

Several improvements to the AMC are scheduled for release. These will be of interest to site administrators and other users with elevated privileges:
  • Reports tab: Add a new Download button located above the data table
  • Lab-B data: Restrict Lab-B FLU and RSV data to only authorized CDC (Operationl Access and NSSP) users
  • Manage Users tab: Fix issue preventing Colorado sites from downloading User Report

DQ Dashboard Updates:

The 2.11 update adds the Data Quality on Demand (DQOD) to the DQ Dashboard. The DQOD pulls large bodies of high-granularity site- and date-specific timeliness, completeness, and validity metrics, with markedly increased performance and point-and-click report customization. Here is a breakdown of the DQ Dashboard enhancements:
  • Data Quality on Demand:
    • Add the Completeness Report Generator: A report-building assistant designed to pull up to 181 unique completeness elements per user-specified, ESSENCE-inspired filters to generate a custom-formatted, reproducible Excel workbook
    • Add the Message Explorer: An exploration tool for detecting and investigating nonconforming completeness element values using sampling and pattern matching
  • Resources tab: Add Master Facility Table (MFT) and Operational Crosswalk tables

Effect on Services:

These tasks will require restarting some onboarding and production BioSense Platform servers several times. The following services will not be available during this update window:

  • AMC
  • Data Quality Dashboard
  • ESSENCE data processing
  • ESSENCE Web application
  • Posit Workbench
  • SAS Studio
