CSTE/NSSP Model Training Series - Syndromic Surveillance AnalySyS and Communication

 

CSTE is facilitating the second of three virtual training events for new syndromic surveillance analysts and data consumers as part of the CSTE/NSSP Model Training Series. AnalySyS and Communication focuses on using syndromic surveillance analyses for public health action. Each training in the series employs adult learning theories and practical exercises shared by Community of Practice colleagues.

 

Space in the live training sessions is very limited. Please complete this form to indicate your interest by October 14th. Preference will be given to new state and local public health practitioners. An online version of the training will be made available at a later date.

 

Training Date: Wednesday, Oct 26th from 2:30-4PM ET

 

Session Description: Translate data into recommendations and public health actions. Learn how to tell a story through SyS analysis interpretation and visualizations.

Session goal: Prepare learners to communicate and translate data into recommendations and public health actions by interpreting analyses and storytelling.

Target Audience: SyS Data Consumers and New SyS Analysts

(1) Select the appropriate public health actions based on SyS analysis 

(2) Describe key messages for various target audiences, including data providers, decision makers, and the public

(3) Understand the importance of data visualization for communicating data-driven findings

 

Expected Outcomes: By the end of the training, learners will be able to…

(1) Determine appropriate response/public health action based on SyS findings

(2) Craft and/or recommend tailored communication per audience profile
