CSTE/NSSP SYNDROMIC SURVEILLANCE MODEL TRAINING SERIES – TRAINING OF THE TRAINER EXERCISE
As part of the CSTE/NSSP Syndromic Surveillance Model Training Series, select STLT CoP members are invited to participate in a unique (and fun!) training exercise, Training of the Trainer, where you will actively help faculty refine their trainings.
During this training, you will engage in a collaborative learning experience that builds foundational knowledge, strengthens your skill sets and/or fosters confidence to create and deliver a complete, effective, and sustainable learning experience. Utilizing adult learning theory, participants will take a journey through the learning cycle as either Active Learners or Observers. Model active learning, explore evaluative discussion, and garner shared understanding to empower your fellow colleagues and apply lessons-learned to your own future trainings. This session promotes community, reflection, and professional development.

What is a Fishbowl and what can I expect?
Once participation is confirmed, you will be assigned either an Active Learner or Observer role. The Trainers for this Fishbowl have already been assigned.
During the Fishbowl exercise, assigned Trainers will have 40-45 minutes to present their training to the Active Learners. Both Trainers and Active Learners are ‘inside the fishbowl’. Observers will watch the training from ‘outside the fishbowl’ while taking note of the training delivery, interactions between Trainers and Learners, and answering a series of pre-designated questions. At the end of the Fishbowl exercise participants will document and discuss observations and reactions to their role and the overall training.
