AZ BioSense Community of Practice

The mission of the Arizona BioSense Workgroup is to work collaboratively as partners to build capacity and quality of BioSense syndromic surveillance in Arizona. Our vision is to improve population health and emergency response through the use of timely and effective syndromic surveillance. This space is a platform for our members to continue discussions and share cross-role topics and questions from providing the data to using syndromic data (clinician/IT/public health).

📢 ESSENCE ICD-10 and CCSR Update

BioSense Platform ESSENCE ICD-10 and CCSR update:

The BioSense Platform will be updating the ICD-10 codes and the Clinical Classifications Software Refined (CCSR) in ESSENCE, starting on Thursday, June 27, 2024, starting at 10:00 am et. Dataflow will be paused during the update. Access to ESSENCE will be available, but data will be static. We expect the update to be complete and dataflow to resume by 11:00 am et.

These updates modify existing CCSR categories, so older data will be reprocessed to match the newer categories. Reprocessing the data will take some time, and there will be potential discrepancies in reporting until reprocessing is complete.

Effect on Services:

  • Dataflow to production ESSENCE environment
  • ESSENCE data processing
  • Report contents in ESSENCE might change
User-Required Actions:

  • Review your existing reports to ensure that the updated ICD-10 codes and CCSR changes are properly reflected.

We appreciate your patience during the downtime.

Sincerely,

NSSP Support Team
