AZ BioSense Community of Practice

The mission of the Arizona BioSense Workgroup is to work collaboratively as partners to build capacity and quality of BioSense syndromic surveillance in Arizona. Our vision is to improve population health and emergency response through the use of timely and effective syndromic surveillance. This space is a platform for our members to continue discussions and share cross-role topics and questions from providing the data to using syndromic data (clinician/IT/public health).

Monthly Patching Reminder for April

BioSense Platform Monthly Patching Reminder:

  • Vendor patches will be applied to the onboarding and production BioSense Platform environments.
  • These servers will start going offline on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 12:00 am et.
  • Servers will be restarted several times during the update window.
  • We plan to complete all work on Thursday, April 18, 2024, by 8:00 am et.
  • We will send you a closeout email when activities are complete.
Effect on Services:

These tasks will require restarting some onboarding and production BioSense Platform servers several times. The following services will not be available during this update window:


  • Access & Management Center
  • Data Quality Dashboard
  • ESSENCE data processing
  • ESSENCE Web application
  • Posit Workbench (formerly RStudio Workbench)
  • SAS Studio

These tasks required several restarts of some onboarding and production BioSense Platform servers. The following services were not available during this update window:
