AZ BioSense Community of Practice

The mission of the Arizona BioSense Workgroup is to work collaboratively as partners to build capacity and quality of BioSense syndromic surveillance in Arizona. Our vision is to improve population health and emergency response through the use of timely and effective syndromic surveillance. This space is a platform for our members to continue discussions and share cross-role topics and questions from providing the data to using syndromic data (clinician/IT/public health).

✅ Query Display for Influenza

Message for NSSP Slack: With the increased interest in Influenza and H5N1, Aaron Kite-Powell created a handy query display that I wanted to pass along to others. It's also a fantastic example of how ESSENCE can do some of the sorting/filtering in it's displays!

That link should open a micrograph timeseries display and it should adapt to whatever data access you have available. If you see an error, there may not be any graphs to show based on these parameters.
This query is running CDC Influenza DD v1 ED visits as a percent of all ED visits and then stratifying by Hospital Region into micrographs. It is set to return only micrographs for regions with greater than 25 influenza DD visits since Jan 1, 2024 and then on top of that, it sorts by the total alerts after April 21, 2024. This will mean the regions with the most alerts are at the top with regions descending from there based on total alerts after that date.. There's nothing magical about April 21 so please feel free to adjust as needed.
