AZ BioSense Community of Practice

The mission of the Arizona BioSense Workgroup is to work collaboratively as partners to build capacity and quality of BioSense syndromic surveillance in Arizona. Our vision is to improve population health and emergency response through the use of timely and effective syndromic surveillance. This space is a platform for our members to continue discussions and share cross-role topics and questions from providing the data to using syndromic data (clinician/IT/public health).

Unscheduled Dataflow Interruption

BioSense Platform Unscheduled Dataflow Interruption:

The BioSense Platform will undergo unscheduled maintenance to rebuild the ESSENCE data cubes for new CCDD categories, starting on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 3:00 pm et. Dataflow will be paused during maintenance. Access to ESSENCE will be available, but data will be static. We expect maintenance to be complete and dataflow to resume by 4:00 pm et.

Please continue to send your data as usual, but remember that data will not process through ESSENCE during this maintenance window.

The new CCDD categories are:

  • CDC Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect v1
  • CDC Youth Violence v1
Effect on Services:

  • Dataflow to production ESSENCE environment
  • ESSENCE data processing

ESSENCE Data Cubes Rebuilt/CCDD Categories Available:

The BioSense Platform completed maintenance of ESSENCE Data Cubes on February 21, 2024. Dataflow resumed at 4:00 pm et. CCDD categories that were under development are now up to date and ready for use.

The new categories include:

  • CDC Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect v1
  • CDC Youth Violence v1
