Super interesting. You must have definitions for all of these symptoms associated with COVID-19. It is probably a constantly evolving field of terminology.

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Jacquie for the comment.  The symptoms come from the free text  Chief Complaint field.  There can be variation of how a healthcare system enters the symptoms into the electronic health record system but the idea is  the symptoms entered will be based on the patient's description of how they are feeling.   The symptoms for COVID that were commonly recorded across the patient visits to healthcare facilities were used to create this syndrome definition.  The definition also contains diagnosis codes for COVID.

Hi BioSense Liaisons and users,

We wanted to let you know as of 11/01/2020, we have updated the version of the COVID-Like Illness (CLI) syndrome definition that ADHS uses to produce the CLI regional trends for schools, businesses and communities, as well the Hospital COVID-like Illness dashboards.  The myESSENCE dashboards will also be updated with this new syndrome definition tomorrow.  Attached is some of the information NSSP provided regarding the new syndrome definition that CDC is using as well from 09/02/2020.

We are now using the CLI CC with CLI DD and Coronavirus DD v2.  It is recommended that you also transition to using this new syndrome definition.

Description:
This query was created to allow patients to meet the Corona-like Illness definition through the Discharge Diagnosis codes if not already meeting the definition through their Chief Complaints. It also pulls in visits meeting the Coronavirus DD query along with a few other coronavirus ICD10 codes included in the CDCs interim guidance document.
