September 1 Initial Meeting Notes
- Wide support of adding whole genome sequencing testing language to position statement, though there were concerns of how to actually do that.
- Wide support of changing CRE to CPO, though prioritization of organism would likely still be required.
- Lengthy discussion of expanding to all organisms but including a prioritized list for testing seemed to gain consensus by end of meeting. This would enable all things to be reported to CDC (i.e. no need to add more organisms in the future), but reference a list of prioritized organisms that we could perhaps update with time.
- Re-affirmed desire to separate out CPOs by organism still despite expanding organism list.
- Which CP genes to include in the CPO definition also was discussed.
- We have focused on plasmid mediated genes previously, but one draw back is that to know if the gene is on plasmid or not requires long form sequencing results (which could make reporting harder).
- Additionally brought up that some genes that are generally plasmid associated can be found chromosomally as well.
- I feel like we didn't necessarily reach a consensus by the end of meeting re: which CP genes to include/a way to future proof.
- Good discussion on the event time period as well - I think that there was moderate consensus that screening and clinical cases should have same time period, although not necessarily agreement on how long that time should be.
- Drawbacks of life time event time period considering that contact pre-cautions don't expire?
