This repository is intended for jurisdictions to easily share resources related to the COVID-19 outbreak response. The audience for this Basecamp is CSTE members working at STLT health departments participating in COVID-19 response activities. Appropriate resources to upload include health department-created guidance documents, resources, or other useful tools that may be helpful to other jurisdictions during their response. Forums may be used to pose questions for discussion among STLT jurisdictions. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Prior to using this Basecamp, please ensure you review the **INSTRUCTIONS FOR BASECAMP USAGE** folder, which contains "Basecamp Repository Instructions and Rules" and "How to Change Basecamp Notification Settings." In CT, we have only been counting a person as having a positive case once within the year. We are almost upon the date of our first case in our surveillance system. Thinking about whether we should start creating new events or continue keeping all new positive and negative tests within the same event? Along these same lines, anyone know if updates to the case definition are being considered? Thanks!

We have been creating new cases for anyone with a new positive COVID test more than 90 days after their prior diagnosis. And we definitely keep track of the info in a separate case record.
I hope that helps! It’s not the easiest thing to manage, but it at least helps us understand discrete cases and reinfections a little more easily.

We created "COVID-19 Reinfection" as a new condition code, so we can count/analyze them separately from initial COVID diagnoses that occurred >90 days prior.

We create new cases after 180 days. We were going to change the logic to 90 to match the reinfection timeframe, but when CDC started considering expanding to 180 days (which now seems on hold), we left the logic at 180, so we have no good way of capturing those between 90-180 days.
I hope that helps! It’s not the easiest thing to manage, but it at least helps us understand discrete cases and reinfections a little more easily.
