The audience for this Basecamp is CSTE members working at STLT health departments participating in COVID-19 response activities. Appropriate resources to upload include health department-created guidance documents, resources, or other useful tools that may be helpful to other jurisdictions during their response. Hi Everyone, Has anyone utilized the services of a contact tracing company for COVID-19? I receive lots of unsolicited emails from various companies each day, but wondered if anyone had experience where a company proved helpful. Thanks!

Yes, we use Salesforce, operated by MTX, in New Mexico. We’ve been using them for contact tracing since May 20. It’s been a huge help in data management. Our case investigation system (NMEDSS) wasn’t built for contact tracing and daily monitoring, so from March-May, we were using an assembly-line system of Excel spreadsheets to get contact lists from investigators to contact monitors. With Salesforce, we can see in real-time how many unique contacts have been identified, how many calls have been made, and analyze the contacts by residence, language, time, and test positivity. We also used to use the CDC-supported TIM system for text-based monitoring, from February (for int’l travelers at first, then cases) through July. We eventually transitioned to text-based monitoring directly from Salesforce (if the contact prefers texts over calls), which prompt a same-day call to be made if the person answers anything other than “no” to the question of having symptoms. The biggest downside for us right now is bidirectional flow of data between NMEDSS and Salesforce, which is improving but still very patchy, especially in the Salesforce-to-NMEDSS direction. So I would look into that with your own state’s usual surveillance system before committing to a contact tracing company.

Does anyone have information regarding the federal purchase of Abbott’s BinaxNOW antigen card/cassettes and how they might be distributed or use-restricted and a timeframe? As you probably are aware, this is the second major media announcement by HHS in the past month about states receiving large donations, but in Texas we are not being given information.
In Alabama, we received the notification from our Governor's office indirectly, but also directly via an email from our Region4 COVID-19 Testing and Diagnostic TA (CDC). The email was sent to the State Epi, Emergency Preparedness, and our State Public Health Laboratory director.
We also used to use the CDC-supported TIM system for text-based monitoring, from February (for int’l travelers at first, then cases) through July. We eventually transitioned to text-based monitoring directly from Salesforce (if the contact prefers texts over calls), which prompt a same-day call to be made if the person answers anything other than “no” to the question of having symptoms.
