This repository is intended for jurisdictions to easily share resources related to the COVID-19 outbreak response. The audience for this Basecamp is CSTE members working at STLT health departments participating in COVID-19 response activities. Appropriate resources to upload include health department-created guidance documents, resources, or other useful tools that may be helpful to other jurisdictions during their response. Forums may be used to pose questions for discussion among STLT jurisdictions. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Prior to using this Basecamp, please ensure you review the **INSTRUCTIONS FOR BASECAMP USAGE** folder, which contains "Basecamp Repository Instructions and Rules" and "How to Change Basecamp Notification Settings." COVID-19 Death Associated Mortality and Classification
COVID-19 Death Associated Mortality and Classification: Curious what other states are using to define a death associated with COVID-19 in regards to how many days after symptom onset (or test date) you would classify a death as COVID-19 associated or not? Initially there was some discussion of 30 days but as we progress through this pandemic, that seems way too short. Please share what you are doing. Thanks.

CLASSIFICATION CRITERIA: ☐ For Confirmed Deaths: • Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the MDSS that have been marked as deceased as the result of case investigation • Decedents with a death certificate that lists a COVID-related term (in Part I or II) that are Confirmed cases in MDSS, but were not yet marked as deceased in the system • Decedents with pending causes of death that are Confirmed cases in MDSS, but were not yet marked as deceased in the system • Decedents with death certificates that do not specifically list a COVID-related term (in Part I or II) that are Confirmed cases in MDSS, but were not yet marked as deceased in the system IF they died within 30 days of symptom onset (or referral date if symptom onset is not available) AND died in a manner of death deemed to be ‘natural’ on the death certificate ☐ For Probable Deaths: • Cases that meet the Probable COVID-19 case definition while alive and have subsequently died, as captured by MDSS • Death certificates that list a COVID-related term (in Part I or II) where there is no available evidence of a confirmatory test result (positive or negative)
