CSTE Disaster Epidemiology Subcommittee

Notes about PH & EM Collaboration

  • For resource typing, include both “training” and “experience” – i.e. when creating skills and knowledge criteria, those who have actual operations experience vs. just classroom training would get a higher level typing.
  • Considerations for EM marketing materials:
    • Speak EM language – short, concise, to the point, results-driven, “what does it mean to me?”, list action steps and “no action” steps
    • Provide short case studies illustrating how Disaster Epi could be of use to EM, “It can work, it has worked”
    • Use local PHEP coordinators as resource, some of them come from EM background
