Financial Conflict of Interest

I'd like to learn more about how other state public health departments have applied the financial conflict of interest (FCOI) requirements of 42 CFR 50 Subpart F for grants and cooperative agreements and 45 CFR 94 for contracts. Do you have a separate policy for investigators who apply for/receive grant funding or did you incorporate the requirements into a department-wide COI policy?

Hi Joni,
We have an agency-wide FCOI policy for DPH staff undertaking research:
https://portal.ct.gov/DPH/Tumor-Registry/Financial-Conflicts-of-Interest-in-Federally-Funded-Research
External researchers who submit applications to us have to sign an assurance which attests that they are compliant with their own institution's FCOI policy.

Thanks Lou! So, you only apply the policy when research is actually going to be conducted that is funded by a PHS agency, not when funding is being applied for from one of those agencies, that may be used for research?
