Hello from Arizona!
Hi everyone,
My name is Joli Weiss and I am with the Arizona Department of Health Services. I am currently the Food and Waterborne Disease Program Manager and help to oversee enteric disease surveillance activities and outbreak response for the state. I have my PhD in Epidemiology and Community Health from the University at Buffalo where I specialized in cancer research. I have also worked as the Foodborne Epi, Outbreak Epi and Preparedness/Disaster Epi Manager in the past. My project will be to help incorporate the Environmental Health Food Safety Program into foodborne outbreak response. I will be working on a process map and will develop guidance on roles and responsibilities for a coordinated response effort. I am really looking forward to building my skill set to help with management activities and learning from others during this next year!
