Description: The presentation will cover overview and applications of spati al cluster detection methods commonly used in Public Health disease invest igations. Methods to be covered will include both global and local methods . Strengths and limitations of the methods will be discussed and recommend ations of appropriate methods for particular situations< /span> given. Both free and commercially available software applications f or analysis of disease clusters will be discussed. Examples of public heal th projects involving disease cluster investigations from the presenter 217\;s work will be shared.

Agricola Odoi\, BVM\, MSc\, PhD\, FAHA\, FACE\, Dipl. AVE S \;is a Professor of Epidemiology with specific inter ests and expertise in Health GIS\, spatial and quantitative epidemiology. Dr. Odoi is a Fellow of both the American Heart Association and the Americ an College of Epidemiology. He is also a diplomate of the American Veterin ary Epidemiology Society. He has over 16 years’\; experience teaching Descriptive and Applied Epidemiology\, GIS &\; Geographical Epidemiolo gy and Advanced Epidemiology. Dr. Odoi served as a mentor for the CDC-fund ed National Epidemiology Mentorship Program of the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD). As a mentor of the NACDD program\, he has mentored many Public Health Epidemiologists from across the United Sta tes. Before joining academia\, he was a Public Health Epidemiologist\, Inf ormation Management Analyst and Health Management Analyst. He is currently a grant review chair for the American Health Association (AHA) and has se rved as a grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He i s an academic editor for PLoSONE\, BMC Public He alth\, Frontiers in Public Health and PeerJ\, am ong other journals. He has also been a peer reviewer for over 37 internati onal scientific journals and has published over 87 journal articles. \ ;
