I'm back...Lyme edu in schools
Our BoH wants us to develop a "Lyme toolkit" for elementary, middle and high schools. I have the link to Maine's resources (thanks!). Dos anyone else have material specifically for schools? Presentations, handouts, etc? We are looking for ideas; we have no health educator on staff. School staff would incorporate into their curriculum, we will not be going out to the schools.

Our NYS State Education Department was legislatively tasked with coming up with a tick-borne disease curriculum in conjunction with those of us here at NYS Department of Health, the NYS School Nurse Association, and the NYS Center for School Health. Just wondering how the link will be ‘advertised’? Through your LHD website or some other communication? We are currently looking into evaluating the toolkit and were thinking of pulling current online metrics to see if there was any interest this summer prior to a new school year but haven’t yet done so. I’d like to reach out to the site owners to do so before you link to it so that I can see how far our organic outreach stretched.

We were thinking of placing a link with a title like : Ney York State Lyme Education Materials on our Health department’s website (Lyme surveillance page). No plans to advertise elsewhere. However, our director wants us to send an email to all school nurses letting them know that we will have links to materials posted on our page. We could certainly wait until you have completed your analysis is the site owners cannot easily pull visits from Allegheny County IP addresses out for your evaluation!
If you prefer, we could talk about re-branding (with an acknowledgement that NYS developed the material) some of the individual items we think our school staff will find most interesting and just post those items for download on our website.
