To both Robert and Abby, I recommend looking at state and local in addition to national organizations, depending on your interests. Local APIC chapter meetings are great for networking with the local infection prevention community. In California we have a number of organizations for local health departments (health officers, communicable disease controllers, public health labs, environmental health) with regular telephone and onsite meetings.
