One local health department’s experience with Medicaid claims dataState and local health departments have long relied on population-based surveys to assess the health and wellbeing of their communities. However, the scale of administrative data sets offers a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of both health status and the social determinants of health. Public Health—Seattle & King County has worked with the Washington Health Care Authority to obtain Medicaid enrollment and claims data and is embarking on several projects that will make use of the data. Learn about how a local health department first gained access to the data, some of the learning that was required to make use of it, the early results that are made possible through data linkage and analysis, and how to access code that can make your analyses more efficient. To join the training session
