📈 ELR Roundtable at CSTE 2020

Hi all -- any interest in submitting an abstract for and ELR roundtable for CSTE 2020? In addition to our usual (and always awesome) meet and greet? I'm thinking it might be an opportunity to be able to discuss some more issues in detail or get some specific folks on a panel.

what do you think?
thanks!

Nancy,

I was told last week that there is not and will not be any travel funds for me. Apparently the state budget office cut the request from the grant request… at least that is what I was told. Unless the EPI program people find money, and they’d have to argue spending it on “IT travel”, there is no way for me to attend.

Sure - possible topics include
Elr for antibiotic susceptibilities esp care
Elr and wgs
Challenges such as specimens making multiple skips before testing, impact on data and strategies to mitigate
Elr for negative results - how far to go
? Others?

Wah! I don’t think it is IT travel as much as surveillance support travel. Are your Epi folks willing to go to bat for you?

I am an IT position. I was told they specifically named me for travel but it was cut. It’s been the project management office using training/travel money for their own people the last few years and using it all up because no one was specifically allocated funds, so the program tried this year and still nothing. It’s a sad joke.

I was also thinking of
ELR progress -- have all states been able to get done what they need
ELR -- are we measuring success appropriately to know where states still need resources and help
-- is the data quality continuing to improve or is there still work to do

:-)

We are also facing severe travel restrictions. No guarantees at all we will be able to attend. But having >=1 presentation or round table certainly helps (-:

Copying my ideas for topics:
Elr for antibiotic susceptibilities esp cre
Elr and wgs
Challenges such as specimens making multiple skips before testing, impact on data and strategies to mitigate
Elr for negative results - how far to go

Hi Nancy, I won't be able to attend CSTE either because of an annual commitment that I have during the week of July 4th. I am planning to send Swathi and possibly VIdya in my place. Unless there are gaps in the schedule to fill, couldn't this type of meeting happen at the Meet and Greet or at an additional meeting outside of the conference schedule rather than taking one of those precious conference slots ;) ?

HI John, A few of us thought it might be useful to have a session during the actual conference so we could reach a wider audience and also as we may want to invite specific CDC folks to attend. But thanks for your input - we are still putting together our ideas.
