HCA Age at Specimen Collection OBX
Here in Utah, we have been receiving the "Age at Specimen Collection" information from HCA as an OBX, but under the SPM segment rather than under the OBR. Our system is not set-up to be able to process an OBX like this, but HCA has responded indicating that they are formatting it according to the HL7 implementation guide.
The Confluence document states that all AOE OBXs should be under the OBR. Is this enough to take to HCA and have them change? HCA has indicated that they plan to send the rest of the AOE OBXs under the OBR, just not this specific one.
Have any other states had experience with HCA and this OBX after the SPM? If so, did you have push back from HCA when you asked them fix it?
Also, if we are unable to get HCA to change this formatting, will sending date of birth be accepted for HHS reporting compliance, rather than the age?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
