LifePoint/MedHost Hospitals

We are hitting a major roadblock for electronic reporting with LifePoint/MedHost, the EHR vendor for 2 of our hospitals.

Do other jurisdictions (particularly jurisdictions with a mandate for electronic reporting) have any experience with LifePoint/MedHost as it pertains to ELR?

Any feedback is appreciated!

Thank you,

Emily Roberts

Are these CHS hospitals?
Amy Drake, NM
Yes, we have 5 hospitals on Medhost, none of which can be onboarded because their feed is neither complete, nor HL7 compliant.  They will not change their feed because they have 'onboarded' with 2 states.  At least one of those states does not require HL7, but receives the data as a non-official feed.  Our IT group will not change a feed based on a hospital or system-specific requirement.

Amy, does completeness for you include LOINC-SNOMED mapping?
Amy Drake, NM
It means that they are not forwarding all reportable conditions and can't figure out why.  (They are sending a lot of micro results with incorrectly formatted susceptibilities, but nothing else.)  If i remember correctly, the LOINCs that they do send are fine.  We don't require SNOMED, so unless the problem was glaring we wouldn't know.

Hi Amy,

Thank you for your feedback! What state are you from?

We are having the same problem with them. They can't meet the HL7 standard and they have said they can no longer put in the resources to meet "Utah's high standard" for electronic reporting. We don't feel like simply meeting the HL7 standard is too high.

How do states (especially ones who mandate electronic reporting) motivate labs/EHR vendors who do not want (or have the resources) to create and maintain a production ELR feed?

Thanks!

I'm from New Mexico.

We had a similar experience.  We would have been OK with them simply removing the offending susceptibility patterns (though we would have had to figure something else out for CRE)  and figuring out how to forward the non-micro results.
They also said that their test feed was different than the production feed so we shouldn't base our judgement of the production feed on the test feed (this was the explanation of why the non-micro results were not in the feed).
We've given up on them: I talked with them every two weeks for about a year and a half before giving up.
