Monkeypox Testing updates
Hi all,
No official CDC guidance on test reporting yet, but I've seen two commercial labs who are being engaged by CDC to do testing say they will be using this LOINC-SNOMED set
100434-0 ORTHOPOXVIRUS.NON-VARIOLA DNA

100434-0 ORTHOPOXVIRUS.NON-VARIOLA DNA
260373001 Detected
260415000 Not Detected
419984006 Inconclusive
280414007 Equivocal
One question is if these labs will be sending specimens found detected to CDC and will equivocal specimens be re-tested or also sent to CDC?
I'll ask to add this topic to tomorrow's extended/open ELR call.
thanks!

Has anyone received ELR yet? Any issues?
Thank you!
Mayo let states know they are waiting for final CDC validation to start offering their testing. I believe they expect that this week.
Wendy from Quest is ooo until tomorrow. I haven't heard any updates myself; not sure if others have.
On Thursday call with APHL, there was discussion on how Sonic Healthcare was going to report as they are using a different lab than where their covid testing is being done? Everyone was looking for any MPX results to come via AIMS as covid is now.
Aegis is still in development last I heard.
Others please add their updates. thank you
Kathleen

We will be following the CDC guidance for reporting results found here. We will be utilizing LOINC 100434-0 for Non-variola Orthopoxvirus and the applicable SNOMED codes defined in the CDC guidance. Our intent is to report these results using the existing COVID-19 format that we currently maintain together. If you are also aware of a need for Monkeypox testing for your Department of Health, please feel free to reach out to info@aegislabs.com, and our Client Relations team will be in touch to see how Aegis can support your teams’ efforts.

Can you post the particulars for this LOINC for my tech person?
Thanks!

Is it known how the antibody testing will be used?
All of the PCR are Detected/Not Detected results (equivocal and indeterminate also)?
thanks!
the antibody testing is performed at CDC - I am not sure of the indication for sending samples for that test, though some PHLs were asking as they got those as results back from CDC.
Sorry to not be of more help with this one. - Jasmine or Rebecca may have more insights here.
