Dear all, APHL just released a message alerting all PHAs that the NHSN will resume sending production SARS-CoV-2 data starting tomorrow morning- October 28th. Please see a copy of that announcement below as well as the updated NHSN facilities list mentioned in the email announcement.
Can anyone clarify for the State of Nebraska? The NHSN data feed; is this to send the actual patient identifiable Point of Care test results via AIMS to each state OR is this to report what nursing facilities have been reporting via NHSN: patient deaths, ventilator use, etc.? We currently have our nursing facilities sending our DHHS their lab test results done via a Point of Care device and we upload them into our NBS system. The NHSN site does not contain any functionality to upload the actual test results currently. If anyone can clarify this we would really appreciate it.

This is to send the actual patient identifiable Point of Care test results via AIMS to each state (in HL7 ELR R1 format) - BUT they cannot upload a file, they have to fill out the web application in order to get the data in.

Does anyone know what information will be on OBR-16? Will both the provider and submitter information be the same? Will there be one file per facility sent from AIMS to each state? Or one AIMS file from sender "NHSN"? We are trying to sort out how we will process these into our surveillance system in a way that we can identify that they are NHSN reports.

NHSN creates 1 batch per facility and AIMS routes based on Patient address - this includes staff and resident testing. MSH-3 will be NHSN system OID per the smartsheet: NHSN row on APHL's published list of Centralized ELR reporters (https://app.smartsheet.com/b/publish?EQBCT=6a622ae0402147fd90aac0f3a527642f) MSH-4 will be the CLIA of the LTCF. per the workbook attached to the NHSN row on APHL's published list of Centralized ELR reporters (https://app.smartsheet.com/b/publish?EQBCT=6a622ae0402147fd90aac0f3a527642f) Since NHSN facilities are still being enrolled this workbook will be updated on a daily basis for a while. NHSN is working on including the namespace for MSH-4.1 and once available will be included in the workbook; MSH-4.1 is being populated in the HL7 messages already. Do you know if patient address is going to be standardized on the NHSN side? We have seen the majority of facility residents reported under their previous residential address, maybe their billing address or NOK address. Those are often out of state which is challenging to reconcile.

In New Mexico, we have a private pay facility that can't enroll with NHSN for POC reporting because they do not have a CMS cert number. Is there a work around for this?

If they are doing POC testing how come they don't have a CLIA waiver number? Shouldn't every facility that does this kind of testing have one? Riki

Yes every facility that is reporting POC data should have a CLIA waiver number.

They have a CLIA waiver number, but not an CMS cert number. She tried the CLIA waiver number in place of the CMS cert number, but that didn't work either. If there's a contact you can share, I'm happy to reach out myself if that's easier.
