🙌 Relationship between overall lab volume and volume of reportables
This question arose in the context of our discussion about mandating ELR in WA State.
Does anyone have, or know of, data addressing the relationship between the overall volume of results a lab produces and that lab’s volume of reportable results?
My guess is that the correlation will be poor, until labs are stratified in various ways -- starting with the category/categories of tests they perform (for example, a lab that does tox screens might have a very large volume but few or no reportable results).
I have also posed this question today to our good friends at EDX :-)
Thanks!

We saw roughly 11:1 ratios of specimens to reportable results for those condition groups.
This was bit concerning then and more so now because our program areas are looking at gathering all tests and the volume would bury us, processing and data storage-wise.
