🙌 Reporting of negative (non-positive) lab results

Good afternoon,

Washington state is interested in connecting with states that have implemented negative/non-positive laboratory result reporting, or that are taking steps in earnest to do so. I would appreciate if you could let me know if you happen to know of any states (besides Utah, with whom we have already connected and garnered tremendously useful information) fitting this description?

Under some circumstances Iowa collects negative and non-positive results:

* enteric conditions where an exclusion (daycare, food service work, etc.) has been ordered and 2 negatives are required before returning to normal activities. These negatives are reported by the public health lab - not by all labs - where the expected negative stool specimen are sent.

* HIV, Hep C, and STDs where non-negative results may provide insight into the effect of treatment from all labs.

There may be some additional situations for which I would have to some research.

Hi, Connecticut requires negative results by electronic file only for Hepatitis C RNA tests and HIV CD4 results (both positive and negative). So a flat file or via our ELR system. 

Other negative/non-positive results are reportable on paper by labs (and will be captured in ELR) for HBsAg and HBsAb (children <= 2 only), HIV tests where all results are reported (antibody, antigen, viral load and qualitative NAT). HIV usually has arranged a flat file until we get that lab into ELR.

Except for some testing by our State Lab (e.g., CT/GC), other negative results would be collected on follow up by staff.
