NH Collaborative Opoid Misuse SatScan Cluster Spike Alert Project
NH is interested in a collaborative project using SatScan and related tools, Emergency Department hospital data, and Response Partners to fill a current “gap of information”, regarding opioid misuse. We have created dashboards and reports indicating volume and rates of the opioid misuse condition, but don’t know if response agencies use the data for response activities (education, intervention, etc.). In this project, NH DPHS will identify response partners and work to develop spike alert thresholds linked to specific response activities. We plan to incorporate work from the CSTE Overdose Spike Alert Advisory Group, which includes a Landscape Analysis (identifying response partners and their needs) and an online Took Kit to create the overdose spike alerts meeting their needs. This project will include Advisory group tools, Data Science Team Training Application (DSTT) Program Training, NH Response Partner input, NH hospital ED data, and technical expertise from a forming National Syndromic Surveillance Program Community of Practice SatScan work group to develop overdose spike alerts that meet Response partner’s linked activities.
