Needle Stick / Sharp's Injuries

Does anyone here that works in any of the states that requires health care facilities to report needle sticks / sharp's injuries? Our state doesn't require it, but I was trying to look into that to get more details within our syndromic surveillance for another project, but wanted to see if anyone here in the states that do require it, what are your text string queries that you use for your syndromic system/Essence when you pull reports? Outside of just putting together various text queries on my own, I wanted to see if there were any that had already been validated and established at being able to effectively pull records without a lot of noise. 

Example of what I need: 

needle AND stick NOT xx, or sharp AND injury, NOT xx, etc. 

Ultimately I wanted to get a data break down similar to what CDC looks at so I can put details in the other project I'm looking at.
