Resource for adding custom shape files to Tableau
One more post for the day:
One of my teams asked about creating a custom geography in Tableau. Tableau understands some standard geographies natively, but if you wanted to, for example, group counties into something like a geography that really only exists for your agency (like a health planning region), you have to take a few extra steps to get Tableau to do what you want. If you think this might apply to your project, have a look at the Tableau documentation here on connecting to custom shape files in Tableau: https://help.tableau.com/current/pro/desktop/en-us/maps_shapefiles.htm.
If anyone has successfully done this, feel free to chime in for others' benefit about how it went.
Thanks,
Anne
