Workgroup Conference Call 9/21 - Recap

Hi all! Thank you for another productive workgroup call - and a big welcome to new participants!  I've outlined some of the main points from today's discussion below, feel free to update should I have overlooked anything:

Agenda:
  • Data Sources/Surveillance Systems Assessment
    • Analyses and Report 
    • Best practice/methods webinars – who/what/how?
  • Potential projects:
    • Seasonality Methodology
    • Validation Toolkit 
    • Strategies for increasing specimen submission for right sizing 
  • Other items? 

Discussion: 
  • Finalize analyses and develop report from June assessment - CSTE can do analyses, any volunteers to assist with report development?
  • Schedule influenza surveillance webinar series (title suggestions?):
    • Every other month, starting in October
    • Confirm speakers from volunteers who indicated interest/experience in assessment (2-3 speakers per webinar)
    • Archive webinars 
  • Develop 'toolkit' or surveillance guidance for influenza coordinators to include:
    • Chapters for each surveillance system/data source (link to webinars)
    • Validation methods
    • Convene speakers/workgroup/interested assessment respondents to develop chapters following webinar focusing on system (ie: Webinar on syndromic in Oct, working conference call to outline syndromic chapter in Nov)
    • Workgroup will be tasked with keeping guidance updated as needed

Future priority: Discussion of ILINet changes over time from state and national perspective
