New England HAI Coordinators

Webinar Series Question

Hi Everyone,

In New Hampshire we are considering launching an antimicrobial stewardship webinar series, and I had a few questions for those who have hosted a webinar series (not necessarily antimicrobial stewardship) in the past or are currently hosting.

- What platform did/are you using?
- What topics did/are you covering?
- What was/is the general feedback from viewers?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Carly-
We have partnered with our QIN-QIO to produce a series of webinars over the last couple years, for LTCFs on AS and infection control. You can scroll through here to find them:
http://www.healthcarefornewengland.org/providers/ltc-webinars/#nhquality

I believe they use Webex and the major drawback is that there is no isolated speaker line so you can’t automatically mute everyone listening to the webinar which is ALWAYS a problem with this audience. We are going to be converting the webinars to a more interactive web-based learning maodule at some point soon, since the recording quality isn’t great. I also think we may move the webinar hosting in house because we use gotowebinar and that platform does offer a dedicated speaker line which puts everyone in listen only mode. They then use chat to ask questions.

This past year we did a nine-part series with 6 webinars dedicated to AS in the LTCF setting and 3 dedicated to infection control. The last webinar in the series is tomorrow. We will begin a more advanced series in January for this audience. I will try to find an invitation from the original series and forward it to you.

I hope this is helpful-

Melissa

Hi Carly,

We've used Skype for Business for both pre-recorded presentations and live webinars and it seems fine for either (though the recordings are not particularly high definition). The only challenges we've encountered were around offering CEUs. We held an outpatient stewardship webinar a few months back and were hoping to have it hosted on our website for continued access with CEUs available to providers. We found that there's not an easy way to host something on our website that is specific to a certain population/sub-population. We were in the process of deciding whether we'd make it more widely available (with CEUs available through a more specific registration process), but I think it looks like we're going to leave this one as a one-off.

Best,
Will
