Onboarding for mumps, pertussis, and varicella was incredibly challenging because we felt the CDC surveillance staff was greatly expanding the scope of this project. Our HL7 messages contain substantially more information than our NETSS file, but progress continued to stall as we had to justify why we were not collecting more variables and set timelines for when we would. Our surveillance system is currently not integrated with our IIS, although that is a project coming soon, and we were told that we needed to immediately build this functionality and that onboarding would not continue until we were able to send this data. I feel like their are unrealistic expectations from CDC surveillance staff as to the infrastructure and work needed to make much of this happen.

Rachelle -- this is a common theme across the MMGs and my suggestion to our group would be to pull these common themes into one area. A table perhaps?
