Novel Influenza Planning Workgroup

Conference Call - 10/14 @ 1pm ET CANCELED

Hello,

The CSTE Novel Influenza Planning Workgroup conference call scheduled for this Friday, October 14th at 1pm ET will be canceled.  In lieu of meeting via phone, Karen and Tom will be circulating a draft version of the guidance document for everyone’s review and comment (either via e-mail or Basecamp).

If you have not already done so, please review the ‘guiding principles and considerations’ below and provide any feedback to Karen (karen.martin@state.mn.us) at your earliest convenience

Guiding Principles and Considerations

·         The purpose of this toolkit is to be a resource for states and other public health jurisdictions that is adaptable in the event of a novel influenza outbreak in animals or humans.
·         In cases where a novel event is detected, there is pressure to produce communication materials quickly. Having templates to use may allow for timelier public health response.
·         This toolkit can be shared widely.
·         Templates can be used as a starting point for communications and may be expanded upon.
·         Templates will need to be adapted to fit circumstances and may not be appropriate for every novel influenza situation.
·         Some preparation for a novel influenza event may be performed ahead of time, such as creating a list of relevant partners.

Our next workgroup call is scheduled for Friday, November 11th at 1pm ET.

Thanks!
Monica
