CSTE Climate, Health, & Equity Subcommittee

Background: CSTE brought together a group of epidemiologists to establish the State Environmental Health Indicators Collaborative (SEHIC) in 2004 with the purpose of creating environmental public health indicators for surveillance. Statement of Purpose: Building the climate, health and equity skills and network for members and partners involved in state and local climate and health work while providing a way for climate epidemiologists to collectively raise new issues of importance in the field of public health. Vision : An engaged community for epidemiologists to voice concerns, and to share resources, skills, lessons learned and best practices in the field of climate, health and equity. Mission: To develop, support and build climate, health and equity practices at the state and local level.

Funding Opportunity

This was also announced in the Disaster Epidemiology Subcommittee, but also sharing here in case anyone is involved in this field:

The National Network of Public health Institutes has posted a funding opportunity titled, "Partnering to Improve Disaster-Related Mortality Surveillance in State and Local Health Departments." This project aims to
  • assess current workforce knowledge of disaster-related death certification,
  • assess disaster-related mortality surveillance systems, and 
  • provide disaster-related death certification training to death certifiers (physicians, medical examiners, and coroners) and other professionals who are involved in filling-out death certificates, such as funeral home directors and nurses. 
This opportunity is open to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, agencies, local, state, or tribal health departments, professional associations, institutions of higher learning, and other relevant organizations who have been impacted by a natural or human-induced disaster in the last five years
 
Application Deadline: 5:00 pm ET Tuesday, December 3, 2019
Funding Period: December 11, 2019-July 15, 2020
