CSTE LEAD 2022

Personal news/missed several LEAD calls recently

Hi LEAD cohort-

I wanted to take a moment and share with all of you that I have struggled to join various LEAD meetings and keep up with basecamp chats due to a death in the family (my father passed away suddenly in October). I am well supported and doing ok -just trying to balance my professional and personal life. Apologies to all of you for being 'missing' and not very active online for a while. That said, I look forward to re-engaging for the time we have left for LEAD 2022 and hopefully beyond!

Oh Katrina, my heart hurts for you. I lost my father unexpectedly in 2015 and it is not something I wish on anyone.  Please make sure you are taking the time that you need for grieving and honoring his life. Family is always first and don't forget it <3
Chloe Manchester, Epidemiologist

Thank you both so much. I will reach out - and I am sorry you have also both been through this as well. Chloe- I love this graphic. Thanks so much for sharing.

So sorry for your loss Katrina. I too have had some personal issues this past year and found it difficult to engage at times so I can completely relate. I lost my dad when I was an undergrad in college and I was a complete mess. Remember that self care and self forgiveness is an important part of healing.

First time I'm seeing this graphic Chloe and not sure I've ever seen grief boiled down into such a profound and accurate depiction. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Katrina,

I am sorry for your loss. I lost my father at the beginning of 2019, and I was a mess. Support is so important. I am happy that you are receiving it.

Chloe, I love that graphic. Wish I had it 3 years ago!
Leann Liu, Manager of Surveillance and Epidemiology Unit, Harris County Public Health
Hi Katrina,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss! Will keep you and your family in my thoughts. It is challenging to balance professional and personal life. I have struggled too with drastic changes at work and some in my personal life. I appreciate the graph that Chole posted, it is hard, but we'll grow around the challenges. Please take care and let me know if there is anything that I could help with.

I appreciate all of you and your kindness. Thank you and I will give myself permission for self-care and forgiveness. I actually shared that graph with my family- such an accurate depiction.
