Hi all! Pennsylvania typically keeps outbreak investigations under tight wraps, but we know some other jurisdictions are a lot more transparent. I'm curious to find out if other jurisdictions routinely issue press releases for Legionella clusters. If yes, what are the triggers for doing that? Number of cases, close geographic clustering, definite and/or possible healthcare-associated cases, positive environmental tests, other triggers? Thanks in advance for any info you can share!

And to clarify, the 6 mos of environmental sampling and 6 mos active surveillance without new cases run concurrently.

We require that they do the full HICPAC follow up sampling timeline (every 2 wks for 3 mos then monthly for 3 mos) without any additional positive results, go 6 mos without any new cases with active surveillance in place, and implement their WMP. We do make them get to zero in GA, but I realize that might not work for other states.

In Chicago, we are looking to develop processes for determining when a healthcare associated legi outbreak has ended.  Have any other jurisdictions developed best practices on this?
