Call for suggestions for SaTScan software enhancements
Hello friends, I hope you have had a chance to test out the new features in SaTScan v.10.0 (www.satscan.org), some of which we introduced on the 1/19/21 webinar (https://www.cste.org/general/custom.asp?page=WebinarLibrary).
More features will be released for free download soon, including descriptive outbreak investigation tools (including patient linelists) and automated outbreak alert notices.
I am soliciting suggestions from this community to support the scope and deliverables for the next contract period for the vendor (IMS Software, Inc.) for the SaTScan Enhancements Project.
By mid-May 2022, kindly post (or email me [sgreene4@health.nyc.gov]) with your wishlist. What do you wish SaTScan could do that it does not currently do? Any desires for new or refined analytic tools, usability improvements, output visualizations, etc.? Thanks for considering!

One suggestion is very simplistic, based on a remark from one of your talks that, in some applications, you pay less attention to the significance in terms of recurrence interval than to the “relative risk” expressed as observed/expected. For such applications, has it been considered to scan for maximal values of relative risk, rather than for one of the likelihood ratios?

Automating routine prospective analyses is now possible within SaTScan and without requiring extensive coding (e.g., in SAS or R) to call SaTScan in batch mode and visualize results.
We'd appreciate if other health departments could please test out the new features. Details are in the version history and user guide under technical documentation. If you find any bugs or issues, please let us know!
Targeting Spring 2023, we plan to put together video tutorials demonstrating how to use the SaTScan software interface for prospective surveillance, automated outbreak alert notices, descriptive outbreak investigation tools, and drilldown feature.
