🚨 Not Spatial but, Epi methods Webinar Tomorrow
Please join the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) on Wednesday, March 16th, 2022 at 1:00pm EDT for a webinar on the implementations of electronic case reporting (eCR) hosted by the CSTE Epi Methods Subcommittee. For your convenience, the calendar invite has been attached.
The presentation will cover an overview of Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) including how it works, what’s happening nationally and implementation in Florida so far. This presentation will provide an understanding of how the rapid receipt and consumption of electronic initial case reports from clinical care organizations into public health surveillance systems benefits epidemiologists by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of disease detection, surveillance, investigation, and response.
About our speakers:
Allison Culpepper is the Data Acquisition Unit Manager at the Florida Department of Health. Her team facilitates the syndromic surveillance, electronic case reporting and electronic laboratory reporting programs in Florida within the Bureau of Epidemiology. Additionally, Allison’s team oversees all data modernization efforts related to systems interoperability, infrastructure and innovative solutions that would result in rapid public health insight and intervention.
Shelby Fawaz is employed by the Florida Department of Health Bureau of Epidemiology as the electronic case reporting informatician. Shelby has had over four years of experience working with large data sets, and performing data analysis on several technical areas including electronic laboratory reporting, syndromic surveillance, and electronic case reporting.”
Crysal Snare has worked in eCR for the last several years, first with the state of Washington, now with the APHL part of the national eCR team. She comes to her informatics experience indirectly – a first career in IT administration followed by veterinary school and after a few years in federal food safety, completing her MPH at the University of Washington and switching to Washington state department of health. She worked in various epi positions with zoonotic disease, childhood blood lead, and STIs where she completed a year of nights and weekends studying to complete her terminal boarding in preventative medicine. After working on eCR for STIs she moved to informatics to keep working on eCR as well as other informatics projects. Now she is thrilled to spend her time talking to, working with, and supporting public health agencies in their use of eCR data.
