Road network API providers collect rich data from everyday commuters and from transportation departments from all over the world. These data sources can be leveraged by researchers as an alternative to traditional network analysis to calculate commuting distances as a measure of access to care.

Road network API providers collect rich data from everyday commuters and from transportation departments from all over the world. These data sources can be leveraged by researchers as an alternative to traditional network analysis to calculate commuting distances as a measure of access to care.

- Discuss Google API as a new option to traditional network analysis
- Discuss applications of network analysis in health care studies
About our speaker:
Dr. Insaf is currently Research Director at the Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology and has been working in various capacities at the New York State Department of Health for 8 years. Her research interests are in geo-spatial epidemiology and its application to assessment of social and environmental determinants of health including climate change, air pollution and health care access. A recent interest has been development of epidemiologic methods to utilize satellite derived fine-scaled measurements of air pollution and climatic exposures to inform public health policies. She has received grant support from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for her research and she is part of CDC’s Environmental Public Health Tracking (EPHT) and NASA’s Health and Air Quality Applied Sciences Teams (HAQAST).
