I received this announcement from colleagues. I don't have any more information and can't speak to the quality of the online class but it may be worth checking out.
Besides HL7, it appears that the PHII, associated with Amory College in Atlanta, GA has HL7 Trainings (https://www.phii.org/search?keys=HL7&=Search).

I looked up training at the HL7.Org website (http://www.hl7.org/about/index.cfm?ref=nav). Just a little detail…you have to pay for greater detail.

I completed a Informatics Certification with the University of Illinois at Chicago (virtually), sponsored by CSTE.

With Coursera, it is similar one has to do a certification, which includes some information of HL7, etc.
You are right…it appears to be a gap…where can one get HL7 overview training?
Of course a resource for HL7 technical information (for formatting, content, and validity) is the HL7 and CDC Implementation guides and validation tools.
ELR is also a gap too, the HL7 organization has a guide but I believe they don’t provide it free.
