The purpose of the eCR/RCKMS Community of Practice Basecamp is to provide staff from state, local, territorial, and tribal public health agencies with a venue to participate in peer-to-peer discussions pertaining to using RCKMS. This Basecamp is not intended for formal communications about RCKMS or eCR and will not be moderated by CSTE staff. RCKMS Emergent Content Release (Measles) on April 5, 2024

Dear Colleagues: 

To support the CDC emergency response for Measles cases and outbreaks, the National eCR team is pleased to announce an Emergent RCKMS content release with updates to the Measles reporting specification. The primary updates for Measles are the addition of timeboxing rules, updates to criteria and value sets, and updates to reportable condition trigger codes (RCTC). 
A new version of the Measles reporting specification (Measles 4.0 Release 20240405) is now available in the RCKMS Authoring Interface.

The information below summarizes the new version of the Measles reporting specifications. New and modified criteria are highlighted in yellow and indicated with an asterisk (*). 
Measles 4.0 Release 20240405: 
  • Added the timeboxing details to the following Clinical criteria: 
    • Measles* 
    • Suspected Measles* 
    • Koplik spots (for Measles)* 
  • Added two new Epidemiologic criteria for use in the Default, CLIN + EPI logic set:  
    • Exposure to Measles* 
    • Increased risk for exposure to Measles* 
  • Added the following new value sets: 
    • Exposure to Measles (SNOMED) 
    • Exposure to Measles (ICD10CM) Not implemented – no codes available 
    • Increased Risk for Exposure to Measles (SNOMED) 
    • Increased Risk for Exposure to Measles (ICD10CM) Not implemented – no codes available 
  • Removed the following unused value sets:  
    • Viruses (Tests by Culture and Identification Method) 
    • Measles (Tests for measles virus IgG Antibody)  
    • Measles (Tests for measles virus IgG Antibody [Quantitative] in Serum)  
  • Added the following existing value sets:  
    • Organisms (Tests by Culture and Identification) 
    • Organisms (Tests by Unspecified Method) 
 
Note that the CLIN + EPI logic set is now implementable with the new “Exposure to Measles” and “Increased risk for exposure to Measles” criteria. In the default logic set, these Epidemiologic criteria are paired with a Necessary Clinical criterion for Rash. If authored following the default logic set, one of the implementable Epidemiologic criteria and the Clinical criterion for Rash must both be present to satisfy the logic rule. 

Please ensure that authorized staff members from your jurisdiction are authoring conditions in RCKMS in accordance with your departmental policies and applicable jurisdictional laws and regulations. Jurisdictional RCKMS users are responsible for ensuring that your jurisdiction is authorized to collect identifiable data for any conditions “published to production” in RCKMS.
