I have some serious concerns about one paragraph in particular. I am attaching an updated version with my comments, but I am also including them here for clarity.
The paragraph about schools and pesticides is accusatory. Schools are being directly targeted when this document is meant for all health care providers, families, etc. to use a guide, not to highlight what is being done wrong. There are many other organizations within the realm of school-aged children outside of k-12 such as pre-school, daycare, church facilities, residential facilities, boys and girls home, etc. They are also many other organizations that use pesticides incorrectly. I do not agree with calling out schools in this guidance document. I made some recommendations to rephrase this paragraph. If these changes cannot be made, I would like to be removed from the Acknowlegements page. Our purpose is to guide them to best practices, regulations and not be accusatory.
Your concern is noted. These paragraphs you are referencing were written by Karen Vail, the pesticides expert at UT. I have extremely limited knowledge about pesticide usage myself as an undergraduate, so if you wouldn't mind reaching out to Karen Vail and discussing your concerns with the expert on such matters, that would help clarify the section and hopefully resolve your concerns.
