This is a second APHL Influenza News blast that will go out to PHLs.

It highlights the following: 

1. CDC’s plan to reclassify/downgrade from BSL-3 to BSL-2 H7N9 testing 

2. Guidance from CDC regarding whether PHLs are able to use outdated lab diagnostic instruments for influenza A(H7N9) diagnostic testing or whether they should purchase new instruments (includes related budgetary considerations)

3. Guidance from CDC on mapping the new LOINC/SNOMED codes for H7 (virus) 
 
4. Guidance from CDC on inactivation of primary clinical specimens

5. Guidance from CDC on reserving aliquots to send to NIRCs

6. Guidance from CDC on a testing algorithm for PCR diagnostic testing with the CDC assay

7. An update on FedEx shipping of H7N9 positive samples
 
8. An announcement from APHL re: an all-laboratory call scheduled for 9/17/18 at 1 PM EST
