Introducing consultant Meghan Schaeffer

We are thrilled to announce that the technical review panel for the “Consultant to Develop an Animal and Zoonotic Influenza Reference Guide for Animal Health and Public Health Professionals in Collaboration with State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Health Departments” opportunity selected Dr. Meghan Schaeffer of Aperio Statistical Consulting. Here is a bit of her background:

 

“I am the CEO/Owner of Aperio Statistical Consulting based in Des Moines, IA. Over the past 18 months my focus was centered on COVID-19 in support of local public health agencies, school boards, companies, and healthcare systems. I studied microbiology, epidemiology, public administration, and administrative leadership over the course of earning four degrees. As an infectious disease epidemiologist, I spent three years at a local health agency, then nine years at the State of Iowa. I ran the Influenza and Respiratory Surveillance Program for the state, worked closely with CDC on many investigations, and published 15 peer reviewed papers. I also taught epidemiology for several years. My consulting work is in addition to my role as the National Public Health Advisor at SAS. I am very excited to work on my favorite infectious disease again!”
