This webinar will introduce features newly available in the free SaTScan software to support health departments in detecting and monitoring COVID-19 spatiotemporal clusters. These features include enhanced purely spatial and temporal adjustments; drilldown functionality to assess spatial variability within a cluster; and the ability to specify locations using a network file to accommodate irregular geographies such as islands and peninsulas. We will demonstrate how the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has used existing and new SaTScan features to detect different types of COVID-19 clusters to support different public health purposes, including identifying epidemiologic linkages, situating mobile testing sites, and targeting community engagement efforts. We will also discuss how clusters are interpreted and presented to officials to support public health action.
